Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressed anguish on the lack of lives after a van was electrocuted in West Bengal and introduced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh every to the following of kin of the deceased.

At the least 10 folks died and 14 others had been injured in West Bengal’s Cooch Behar district after a pickup van carrying passengers en path to neighbouring Jalpaiguri bought electrocuted, police had stated on Monday.

The Prime Minister’s Workplace (PMO) quoting Modi tweeted, “Distressed by the lack of lives as a consequence of a van getting electrocuted in Sitalkuchi, West Bengal. Condolences to the bereaved households. Might the injured get better quickly.”

Moreover compensation from the Prime Minister’s Nationwide Reduction Fund to the household of the deceased, Rs 50,000 could be given to the injured as properly, the PMO stated.
