IIMs Violate PhD Reservation Policy, Dalit Students ‘Denied Seat’: IIT Bombay Students Body

As many as 9 Indian Institutes of Administration (IIMs) have violated the reservation norms for PhD admissions, as per Ambedkar Periyar Phule Research Circle (APPSC), a college students’ physique at IIT Bombay. Taking to the social media platform, Twitter, the scholars collective has revealed the proportion of Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Different Backward Caste (OBC) classes college students in 9 totally different IIMs. “RTI information obtained from 9 IIMs present that they’ve been violating the reservation norms in PhD admissions. 188 dalit bahujan adivasi college students have been denied their rightful seats within the final 5 years,” it tweeted.

The 9 IIMs embody IIM Lucknow, Kozhikode, Raipur, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Indore, Shillong, Rohtak, and Kashipur.

As per the RTI information obtained by the APPSC, the utmost variety of college students taking admission in IIMs belonged to the final class. Out of a complete of 110 seats reserved for SC, 40 has been admitted and 70 denied admission. Within the ST class, out of 55 seats reserved, solely 13 have been admitted and 42 have been denied. In OBC, which has the very best reservation out of the three, 123 college students have been admitted out of a complete of `99 and 76 have been denied admission.
